In the first century BC, Ephesus was the second greatest city in the Roman Empire, with a population of approximately 250.000 people. It was the world’s second-largest city, after only Rome. Ephesus was a port city as well. And only marbel was used to construct this massive city. Did you know Ephesus was the world’s largest amphitheatre, with over 25.000 seats? Goddess Nike, Hadrian Gate, Library of Celcius (the third largest library), Marbel Street, and Harbour Street are also worth seeing.
